About

Curious about building for SPECS? Join the SPECS team at our First Look space in Westfield Century City for a conversation about creating experiences for AR glasses. Whether you already build Lenses or are just starting to explore spatial computing, this session is open to developers, creators, designers, and anyone interested in building on SPECS.

Hear directly from Terek Judi, Product Manager for SPECS, and Jesse McCulloch, Developer Relations, as they share their perspectives on the platform, discuss the opportunities ahead for developers, and answer your questions. Stay afterward to explore the space and connect with fellow builders.

Please RSVP to reserve your spot.

Agenda

Tuesday, August 31

9:00am

Welcome to the Lens

Kick off three days of Specs programming with an opening session that sets the stage — literally. A quick look at where AR has been, a longer look at where Specs is taking it, and the first chance to put the hardware on your face.

Maya Okonkwo

11:30am

Consumer Track: Everyday AR

Designed for the curious and the newly converted: a guided walkthrough of what Specs actually does in the real world, from navigation overlays to social lenses to the moments you didn't know you were missing.

Iraina Bell

2:00pm

Developer Deep Dive: Building for the Face

An intro session for developers new to the Specs platform. Cover the SDK fundamentals, spatial design constraints, and the questions every first-time AR builder asks — answered before you have to ask them.

Sharon Scott

Wednesday, September 1

9:30am

Client Showcase: Brands in AR

A curated look at how forward-thinking brand partners are integrating Specs into campaigns, retail experiences, and live events. Real case studies, real results, and a few things that surprised even us.

Manuel Garner

12:00pm

Hands-On Lab: Build Your First Lens

Bring your laptop and your appetite for experimentation. This guided workshop walks developers through building and deploying a Specs lens from scratch — no prior AR experience required, curiosity is the only prerequisite.

Jacob Richman

3:30pm

Panel: Who Is the AR Consumer?

Three perspectives, one honest conversation. Creators, researchers, and early adopters dig into how people are actually using Specs — what clicks, what doesn't, and what the next wave of users will expect.

Lena Chu, Karla Brunson, & Elizabeth Oliver

Thursday, September 2

9:00am

Roadmap Reveal: What's Coming to Specs

A candid look at what the Specs team has been building — new features, expanded developer tools, and a platform roadmap that gives clients and creators something concrete to plan around.

Maya Okonkwo

11:00pm

Open Office Hours

Unstructured time with Snapchat's product, engineering, and partnerships teams. Bring your questions, your feedback, or just your wishlist. This is the session people remember.

Hortense Kaye, Mary Taieb, & Charif Lunsford

1:30pm

Closing Session: The Next Layer

A send-off that's equal parts reflection and momentum. What did we build this week, what does it mean, and what do you do with it when you leave? Ends with a final group demo that earns its applause.
